We are ten hours into our drive; 10 hrs, 13 minutes, 8 seconds to be exact (at least according to our van's trip timer). We're in Alabama somewhere between Montgomery and Opp ( our stopping point for today). I have no idea where Opp is and had never heard of it until planning this trip. We are meeting Bret, Erica and Ben there and have been texting each other about what a great Opp-ortunity it is to stay there. They are already there and texted us that the hotel is a nice Opp-tion. The Opp jokes are carrying us through these last long hours in the car.
Today has gone so well. I'm so proud of Henry and William, junior travelers extraordinaire. Henry did not sleep one wink but has been happy to read stories, listen to Arthur on cd, watch borrowed library dvd's and snack on heavily processed foods. The makings of a perfect road trip! And William has been content doing the same and napped for a bit this afternoon, and he was nearly sat on by a blind man in Kentucky. It was a narrow escape, but no one was hurt!
Really a lovely first day of vacation - or nearly vacation. Tomorrow we will only have to drive about 2 hours and we'll be in Destin. Looking forward to seeing the beautiful beach!
