Look at this precious face! The Robins have hatched. They are so tiny and big-eyed and feather-less, and so remarkable too. New life is always that way (remarkable, that is).
Yesterday there were two cowbirds in the pine tree where sparrows have a nest. The sparrow was sitting to the side looking a little perplexed and worried with good reason. Cowbirds throw out the other bird's eggs and then lay their own, leaving the adopted mom to raise the babies. And she will do it, even though cowbirds are much larger than sparrows. The poor mother sparrow will be run ragged keeping up with the hungry cowbird babies. I'm going to keep a look out and see if they actually laid their eggs in the nest or were just thinking about it. love ya, Sandi

That is just sort of amazing, isn't it? One day they're eggs, and the next they are tiny little birds. They're sweet little things!
Good catching up with you today. Love you!
