days like these

This morning we were up at 5:45. Henry is such an early riser, usually it's 6:00 am sharp. But this morning both boys were up and coming in to our room every few minutes to check the time on the clock. So I just pulled myself out of bed and got up with them. I know that when the boys are older and when they sleep in until 11 am and when they talk on cell phones and stay up late with friends, I know that I will miss so much days like these. So I savor them and treasure watching their games of crash car derby and chef in the kitchen.

Sometimes they find a groove a play so effortlessly bound by their years as brothers and the friendship they've formed. This morning was one of those times. They raced cars and crashed monster trucks. They opened a restaurant and cooked heaps of food and flipped pancakes in their plastic red frying pan. They served eggs for breakfast with a side of brownies, because if it was their choice, that's the way breakfast would always be. It's not always this sweet, sometimes they bicker and play tug of war to decide who will get that red frying pan first. But today it was sweet and effortless and I was reminded of how blessed I am and how fortunate they are to have each other. And how much I love days like these.

Such sweet brothers! I love seeing these pictures of the boys together, so happy in their restaurant on the floor. These are memories to remember!
Love you guys!

Those early risers! :-) These are sweet moments you captured. And the living room looks so spacious! Did you get rid of the coffee table? More room for pretend food! :-)
