{Found this treasure from November 2010 tucked away in my drafts folder this morning. I tend to wish I recorded more of my conversations with the boys, so I'm so grateful to have this little gem.}
After school when Henry was all buckled in and snug in his booster seat and we were driving home he announced that there was a friendship feast for all kindergartners and first graders at his school today to celebrate Thanksgiving but that preschoolers get to have turkey cookies tomorrow. Sounds like a fair trade-off to me. I learned from him that this all started because of a feast between the Indians and the Pilgrams. {I know, it's Pilgrims, with an I. But this is Henry's account.}
"There was Pilgrams in England but there was a bossy king there telling everybody what to do and they didn't like it. So they got on a big ship and stayed on it for a long, long time. Sometimes it was nice to them and sometimes it wasn't. (me: What wasn't nice to them?) The ocean. They finally came to land and it was Bloomington. 'It was Bloomington?' Well it was close to Bloomington, it was by New York. Then the Indians--they're also called Native Americans--taught them to make a bunch of stuff. Like clothes. And growing many things. Like babies. So then they celebrated with a huge feast together."

That story sounds about right to me! :-) Cute conversation to have recorded!
Love these old drafts! It's funny the things you think you'll remember, but then forget. Writing them down makes them such a special treasure.
This one makes me laugh! :-)
