rex

February - 2010 022
Rex is Henry's preschool class pet. He goes home with each of the children for one week during the school year. This week it's our turn with Rex.

Henry has never had any particular fondness for stuffed animals. In fact, on Sunday, (the day before he brought Rex home) he cried and cried when Patrick's mom gave him a stuffed lion for Valentine's day. It's white with pink heart spotted fur and a fuzzy pink mane. He liked none of those things and he cried.) However, he and Rex have been inseparable. William, who on the other hand adores all things stuffed, keeps picking Rex up when he sees him left unattended. He carries him around and tucks him in with his blankets. And then Henry flips out because he loves his Rex so much. It's funny.

At the end of the week, Henry writes down some of the things he and Rex did together and we send that along with a picture of them together back to school to share.

What a great idea. We might try that in our classroom.

Great idea. I've seen that in some teacher magazine or idea book and thought it was a fun thing for young children.
